When your business card won't say enough, try saving a custom conference email signature in your iPhone or Blackberry. Include a quick, standard message, contact details, and links to your company website or other pages.

Then, once you've done the usual exchange, tell the person you've just met you're going to ping them a few links and do it there and then. There's nothing like getting to the front of the pack!

1) Write details of conversations on a business cards. Include details such as: past work, websites built, "likes football" etc. Most importantly. Add a note RE: the persons appearance (without them seeing), i.e bright green shirt! When you have spoken to hundreds of people its so easy to forget whos who when you return back to the office.

2) Be yourself and dont always talk about work! Make friends! I know we are all here to network and do business, but if people dont like you, its a waste of time. The most commenly made mistake is to upsell your products / services / websites at every possible opportunity NON STOP. Relax, talk about something different, not only will it clear the air, but more than likely you will find you share something in common.

3) Think of the future....! If you speak to someone dont just think 'he/she' cannot help me and move onto the next person. You never know when you may need one another. If you are lucky they may even make you a job offer!

Even though its really hard with the free bars at the events .. always try to pace yourself and don't overdo it, otherwise you won't remember who you spoke to the night before and what about.. plus you'll feel really rough the next day and miss the sessions.

Another quick one ... if you are being sent by your company to attend, make sure you behave as a representative of the company and get to the sessions. In London we witnessed an employee getting pulled over the coals for what he did the night before!

Just be yourself and only talk about things you have a clue about. Otherwise you will be unmasked very quick.

Pete.. that's 4! ;)

Bank up on sleep that's important.. I think our parties are due to go on until 3am+ and with a free bar... that could be messy.

My quick tip is to write details of all conversations on business cards and follow up asap and to not be afraid to network and introduce yourselves to others.

1. Take notes on the business cards you collect, lots of late night drinks and things become a bit hazy in the morning!
2. Plan your days know what you want to see and when you want to see it.
3. Don't worry too much if you want to be in two places at the same time A4Uexpo and or the speakers will share video or share presentations later.
4. Finally get plenty of sleep before you go you will need it but it is well worth it.

As well as taking something to hold your business cards, take something to put all the business cards you gather in. Nothing worse than emptying your suitcase to find a million business cards falling out! Also, if you get the chance, write a quick note on the back of each one, so you know what was discussed!
