Barriers to Conversion & Discovering Untapped Opportunities With Analytics

Are you really making the most of analytics? We have three experts from the field, two of which have given us an insight into their session, First Will Critchlow the MD of Distilled followed by Joanna Butler from Latitude.

1. Which session(s) or panel(s) are you speaking on?

Barriers to Conversion & Discovering Untapped Opportunities With Analytics

2. What advice will you be sharing at your session? i.e Why should we come and see you!

I intend to share a range of actionable and advanced tips to drive actions from analytics. In particular, I will be showing how to customise Google Analytics for cross-channel / multi-touch tracking and talking through some of the top pieces of data to dig out of analytics to drive SEO success.

3. Why is it important?

I don’t believe that analytics should be seen as reporting. It should drive actions. I will be showing ways of digging actionable insight out of the mass of data with tips for advanced Google Analytics and some cunning Excel tricks.

4. What experience level will you be pitching at? (beginner to advanced)

I’m going to aim for advanced tips. I always feel that speakers offer the best value when they share ideas and thoughts that ignite ideas in attendees’ minds. I would rather share lots of tips rather than starting from the basics. I’ll be assuming that people know how to filter, segment and export data from their analytics and that they have some idea of what they’re looking for.
5. Which sessions or speakers are you looking forward to seeing at a4uexpo?

It may sound crazy, but since I specialise in search marketing, I don’t actually know a lot about the advanced end of affiliate marketing. I am looking forward to getting to grips with that.

Having said that, there are some superb speakers this year lined up across search, conversion rate optimisation, social media etc. I think I’m going to have some tough scheduling decisions.
6. Do you have any tips for delegates who attend conferences likea4uexpo?

Make sure you network. The friendships you can make at face to face conferences are the one bit you can’t get anywhere else.

7. Can you share any hot news or gossip in your world  / niche?

I’ve been following Dave Naylor’s fascination with Derren Brown’s recent shows with interest. I don’t think there’s any truth to the rumour that his session is going to include hypnotism, but you never know.

8. Can we catch you on twitter?

Yep – @willcritchlow and @distilled.

1. Which session(s) or panel(s) are you speaking on?

Barriers to Conversion & Discovering Untapped Opportunities With Analytics. I’m really excited to be on the panel along with Lisa Myers and Will Critchlow – it’s going to be jam-packed full of useful insight, and most of all, a lot of fun!

2. What advice will you be sharing at your session? i.e Why should we come and see you!

We’ll be going over some essential methods of identifying where your website or marketing campaign might be letting you down, and showing you a few ways to target high value traffic and optimise your website in order to boost conversions. Expect to see a mix of advanced tips mixed with some tracking and conversion essentials!

3. Why is it important?

Affiliates and online marketers are gradually becoming more and more aware of the need to delve into web analytics. But all too frequently the main barrier to using web analytics tends to lie with the wealth of information available; it can be overwhelming! We’ve all been there. Where do you start? This session aims to be practical and useful, with tips to take away and ideas for new ways to drive conversions. All in an hour!

4. What experience level will you be pitching at? (Beginner to advanced)

We won’t be assuming any levels of experience in the audience. Even if you have advanced analytics experience there are virtually always beginner level tricks you can pick up. We will however cover some advanced analytics strategies that both affiliates and merchants alike cannot afford to miss.

5. Which sessions or speakers are you looking forward to seeing at a4uexpo?

This has to be the hardest question! I’ve met some speakers previously, but as yet have not been lucky enough to watch them speaking live so I’m really eager to catch a few if I can. A few sessions I would love to see are: Affiliate Doctors panel, Beyond Linkbait, Social Media with Dom and Mel, Extreme SEO Debate, ‘Productization’ for Fun and Profit… there are so many great talks it will no doubt be hard to choose!

6. Do you have any tips for delegates who attend conferences like a4uexpo?

1) Bring business cards: you’ll want to keep in touch with some of the amazing people attending.

2) Talk to the speakers: we love questions and meeting new people, you never now what business opportunities might come of it.

3) Make sure you have LOADS of energy! With so much going on you’ll need it to make sure you can take in all the great info and make the most of the great networking events!

7. Can you share any hot news or gossip in your world  / niche?

Driving traffic to a website is only half the story; everyone is slowly switching on to using web analytics to optimise their websites for conversion. DON’T get left behind because at the end of the day, you can’t afford to let your competitors get the upper hand! You’d be surprised how many people in your industry have started building on their web analytics skills to bolster their online marketing strategies…

8. Can we catch you on twitter?
