Bumper Attendance at another Bumper a4uexpo

Over a third of delegates turned up to utilise the early registration at the buy.at pre-event networking party, but we were even registering new arrivals at 5pm. So the word’s out that this event’s a must-attend!

With over 1,000 delegates, from 30 different countries, we knew it was going to be busy.

Yesterday, we saw an enlightening presentation by Dave Naylor who gave some cracking affiliate search tips. Ewan Darby’s Affiliate Marketing within the Marketing Mix gave a good overview of all the related channels, whilst the Are the Networks Dying? session showed there is most definitely a role for everyone going forwards.
The Affiliate Doctors Live was ideal for those setting out on the Affiliate path, whilst the Google Site Clinic got everyone talking.

Squirrel-talk with Conversion Rate Experts

We were honoured to have the founder of Conversion Rate Experts onhand yesterday, especially as he’d made the journey across London without trapping his tail in the Tube. In fact, he enjoyed himself so much, that the Squirrel is back today, so we thought we’d ask him a few questions:

Are you really the founder of Conversion Rate Experts?
Yes, absolutely. I wrote a very important document back in 2006 called Google Website Optimiser 101 which really put the team on the map. I’ve been busy ever since and am known to be the brains of the operation.
How come you know so much about converting customers?
Well, I’m always ‘squirreling’ away in the office and actually taught Dr Karl Banks everything he knows about our business.
You joined one of the conference panels yesterday. Did you enjoy it?
Well, there’s a lot of very clever people here and it was great to share my knowledge with them. My best mate Tufty gave me some tips on presenting, from his Green Cross Code days, so I think I’m a bit of a dab hand at it actually.
Did you enjoy the chilli lunch?
Well I prefer nuts, but delays on the DLR this morning meant I had eaten much of my stash I brought with me, so it was very welcoming.
Didn’t you used to promote a certain cider brand?
No, that was my uncle who is actually taking part in the Gymnastics Championships over at the O2 this week as he’s a bit of a star on the old beam.

Finally, I can see you are indeed single. Is there anything we can do to hook you up with a nice furry Affiliate partner?

For tax purposes I can’t give you my real name, but if there are any friendly, non-grey squirrel, girlies out there, I’d love to meet for a scamper around the Expo hall. I’m also very partial to jelly beans…

Limbering up with the gymnasts at the a4uexpo Breakout Party

Although we might be famous for our different (admittedly quirky) networking parties, last night’s Breakout Party took place in the midst of the World Championship Gymnastics event at the O2 – but thankfully there wasn’t a single leotard-clad Affiliate in sight!
With pole-dancing robots, oxygen bar and decent DJ mixing, last night’s party certainly hit the spot, giving everyone a chance to relax and have some fun after a busy day at ExCeL.
The chance to win DFDS’s mini cruise and the VIP Man United tickets from Viagogo also attracted lots of attention, with a certain amount of Social Media activity hyping up who was going to win.

Who’s the top AM businesses?

Don’t forget to submit your answers to the inaugural Top 100 Affiliate Marketing Companies survey that we launched this morning.

The annual survey, which will identify the Top 100 AM companies each year, plus the Most Respected Companies and Individuals, will provide our industry with an unbiased snapshot of who’s hot.
